Meet The New Google Home Assistant
After the release of the long awaited Pixel smartphone at the Google event, Google has also introduced another device known to be the Google Home.
The new device is very similar to ‘Amazon Echo’ and its new Chromecast Ultra. Speaking at the event, Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai said the move is part of a shift to an AI-first world.
“The last 10 years have been about building a world that is mobile-first, turning our phones into remote controls for our lives. But in the next 10 years, we will shift to a world that is AI-first, a world where computing becomes universally available,” he explained.
With this new assistant users can chat one-on-one with the assistant, or call on Google in a group chat with friends – so you can ask if your flight is delayed using natural language.
Its also reported that Google wants to put Assistant in its wearables, Android in-car as well as in phones, which would make things easier to do with an AI.
Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai demonstrated enhancements in machine translation, “closing the gap” with machine translation as well as in terms of enhancements image captioning, better understanding what images are showing.
